Is this gambling?

No. Chase the Ace by Flagstick Events is a skill hole-in-one competition. The result depends entirely on whether you hole a tee shot in one stroke from the designated tee, under the R&A Rules of Golf — there is no element of chance, no draw and no randomisation. It requires the exercise of skill within the meaning of section 14(5) of the Gambling Act 2005.

What skill is involved?

Hitting a hole-in-one from a regulation par-3 tee requires accurate club selection, swing mechanics, ball-flight control, distance judgement and green-reading — recognised golfing skills assessed by R&A handicap and PGA coaching bodies. See our Skill Contest Rules for the full list.

How are prizes funded?

Accepted Answer

Every advertised prize is insured and fully funded before a competition goes live. We do NOT run a player-funded pool, rolling jackpot or rollover — entry fees never become the prize. The advertised amount is what each verified winner receives.

Question 4

What if more than one person makes a hole-in-one?

Accepted Answer

Everyone with a verified hole-in-one is paid the full advertised prize. Prizes are not shared, allocated or awarded on a first-come basis, and another player's result never affects yours.

Is there a limit on how often I can win?

Accepted Answer

Yes — one prize per participant in any rolling 7-day period. It's an anti-abuse control applied equally to everyone and assessed only against your own history.

Question 7

I holed my tee shot — what do I do?

Accepted Answer

Tell the partner club team the same day, before you leave the course, so the tee and green footage is preserved. Then submit your claim within 5 days: if you have an account, use the Submit Claim button on your paid entry in My Play; if not, use the claim form at /claim or email claims@chasetheacegolf.co.uk. You will get a claim reference and can track every step of the review in your dashboard.

How is the prize paid?

Once a claim is verified (usually within 48 hours, and always within 30 business days of a complete claim) and identity checks are complete, the prize is paid to your nominated UK bank account — typically within 7 business days and never later than 60 days from verification.

What counts as a valid hole-in-one?

Accepted Answer

A shot taken from the designated competition tee markers with conforming equipment that comes to rest below the lip of the cup as a direct result of the first ball struck, during a legitimate round at the partner club, within published operating hours, in compliance with the R&A Rules of Golf. Mulligans, re-tees and practice strokes do not count.

How is verification done?

Multiple tee-box and green cameras automatically record every attempt. Our verification team reviews footage and timestamps, checks course and tee, seeks witness confirmation where available, and verifies the winner's identity and amateur status before any prize is paid.

What's your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Entries are fully refundable up until the moment you tee off, and unused entries carry a 14-day statutory cancellation right. Once a shot has been taken the entry is used and non-refundable, unless the cameras failed to capture usable footage — in which case you're refunded in full. Cancelled competitions are refunded automatically within 3 business days.

Who can enter?

Amateur golfers aged 18 or over, resident in the UK, playing at a participating partner club. Professionals and PGA members are not eligible.
